The Eternal Flame
This image can be viewed in three ways, As it is (straight up), it is the Eternal Flame. Originally painted for a 2004 juried show on religions at Tufts University, Aidekman Arts Center it resembles the flame found in front of the holy ark in synagogues. Flipped clockwise, with the blue column on the bottom, it appears as seascape. Flipped anti-clockwise, with the red column on the bottom, it appears as landscape. These alternatives weren't considered when painting, but immediately evident afterwards.
